Nov 26th – Dec 14th

St. Rose of Lima’s Spirituality Committee is asking for your help in conducting a 2007 Christmas Shoebox Drive in partnership with Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton.  Our mission is twofold.

First, we will need our students and families help in filling up shoeboxes with age appropriate toys, books and/or personal care items that will go to help underprivileged children in the Monmouth/Ocean County area.  All items must be new.  Please wrap the top and bottom separately, so that the box could be opened without removing the paper (do not tie with ribbons) and place a tag on the box indicating the gender and age range of the child the gift is for.  See the list below to check the age appropriate gift we can use based on your child’s grade.

Second, there is an opportunity for community service during the week of December 3rd for our 8th grade students.  Catholic Charities can use help cleaning up and organizing/sorting all the donations, they will be receiving, to prepare them for distribution.   They will need about 3 students per day between the hours of 1:30-3:00 pm.  Students will be given permission to leave school early on their assigned day.  Mrs. Lewis will have a sign-up sheet in her class.  At least one adult chaperone is required to remain with the students at the location and of course will be needed for transportation.  I thank you in advance for being very generous in this drive.
