St. Rose of Lima School
51 Lincoln Place
Freehold, NJ
January 21, 2009
Dear Parent/Guardian,
With all the excitement of the Inauguration we have more exciting news to share with all of you.
We have now had the first meeting of the re-established “St. Rose of Lima School Board”. The orientation meeting was held Tuesday night and I am ever so happy to tell you of the amount of positive excitement and energy that was present within that group. We are fortunate to have members that are truly committed to the continuance of excellent Catholic education offered here at St. Rose. They have the spirit of “Whatever It Takes”!
I’m sure all of you are well aware of the first efforts of the “Advancement” (a new term for Development!) Committee from the school board. While still in the process of being formed, they, (under the organization of Carolyn Welsh and the help of Gerard Ward), in only a few days, pulled off the “Polar Plunge” which has at this point collected approximately $8100 for the school. What a terrific first effort!!!
The Finance Committee, together with the Business Manager of the Parish and the Business Manager of the school have been working to see just what needs to be done for the school budget and at the same time see what can be done to help parents during this very difficult economy.
Their collective decision will be in effect for the next school year-2009-2010.
Tuition rates will be:
Category A: Those who agree to perform some area of service to the school programs.
Tuition amounts still include the Book Fee, Technology/Art Fee and Diocesan SASI Fee.

With these tuition rates and working diligently to keep costs as low as possible in all the other areas of the budget we are still able to continue to offer the same great quality of education to all of our students. Since our mission is to provide an educational environment that is centered in Gospel values, striving for excellence in academics, and is conducive to the spiritual, emotional and physical growth of every child in order to enable them to become responsible and productive members of Church and Society, we must ensure that any change in the budget does not compromise this goal.
In addition to our K to 8 program we will be offering a Transitional Kindergarten class that will service students that perhaps do not meet the age cut-off date for Kindergarten but have already completed a Preschool program. Instead of having the student spend another year in preschool this class will prepare the student for entrance into either a regular Kindergarten class or first grade the following year.
Our Preschool Classes will offer:
A 4 year old program that will run either 5 full or 3 full days
A 4 year old program that will take place for either 3 or 5 half hays in the PM only
A 3 year old program that will run either 2, 3, or 5 half days in the AM only
Tuition rates for the Preschool Program would be:
4 Year Old Program:
5 full days $5,700
3 full days $3,450
5 half days $3,100
3 half days $2,500
3 Year Old Program:
5 half days
$3,100
3 half days $2,500
2 half days $1,750
Transitional Kindergarten tuition will be the same as the other kindergarten class.
We sincerely hope that these different schedules will meet the needs of all of our families along with any new family that may wish to register for next year. Re-registration packets will be sent home one day next week.
S. Pat
