Mass Schedule for Lent

The Season of Lent

Lent is a forty-day period before Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday. We skip Sundays when we count the forty days, because Sundays commemorate the Resurrection. Lent begins on 5 March 2003 and ends on 19 April 2003. In the Roman Catholic Church, Lent officially ends at sundown on 17 April (Holy Thursday), with the beginning of the mass of the Lord's Supper.

During Lent, we should; live as children of the light, performing actions good, just and true
(see Ep 5:1-9).

LENTEN PRAYER
Pope John Paul II has called on Christians to pray and fast for peace on Ash Wednesday, March 5. A peaceful future for the world cannot be won by terrorism or by war, he said Feb. 23. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the penitential season of Lent, the time before Easter when Christians are especially called to prayer, penance and charity. The pope said fasting that day should be an "expression of penitence for the hatred and violence that pollute human relations."
