FAITH FORMATION and EDUCATION

Adult Faith Formation -  A variety of renewal programs, sessions, missions, retreats, etc. are offered during the year designed to foster one’s personal spiritual growth, enrich the faith of adults, to help adults grow in their appreciation of the sacraments and to learn how to share their faith with their children. The programs help adults more fully understand and live their Catholic faith.

All God’s Children - a pre-kindergarten and kindergarten program for children of the parish who are three to six years of age. While parents are attending the 9:45 AM Mass, their children participate in activities designed to foster understanding of God, creation and basic Catholic values. The program is based on the Scripture of the week. The program director depends on the cooperation and volunteer efforts of the parents whose children are registered in the program. Please call Sr. Claire if you are interested in forming or helping with this committee.

Baptism Preparation - Before the Baptism of a child, both parents are required to attend a preparation session. Sessions are held on the second Friday of each month, 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. This time of preparation helps parents to focus on Baptism as the sacrament of initiation into the Catholic Faith. Registration is necessary. We encourage parents who are expecting a baby or whose child has not been baptized to call the parish office.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults - Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults and Teens is designed to welcome and educate persons seeking full membership in the Catholic Faith. This includes the unbaptized, those baptized in other faiths, and baptized Catholics who desire to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, R.C.I.A. for short, is the process by which adults or young adults prepare together in a friendly supportive atmosphere for full membership in the Catholic Church. It is a journey of faith, embarked on by adults of various faith experiences, various ages and stages of life, who share a common curiosity and interest in membership in the Catholic Church. Many who have gone through the R.C.I.A. process here at St. Rose have found it to be a very rewarding experience, have developed lasting friendships, and have reaped the benefits of full membership in the sacramental life of the Church. Team leaders, catechists and sponsors accompany and support catechumens and candidates on their journey to full communion with the Catholic Church. The adults one-year program and the teen’s two-year program runs from September to May and members are fully initiated into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. We welcome all inquiries about membership in our faith community or participation on our R.C.I.A. Team. For more information, please call the R.C.I.A. coordinators or the Parish Office.

  - Why Catholic? offers a concrete approach to help adults deepen their Catholic faith and connect its teachings to their everyday lives with its thorough exploration of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, this process encourages learning in a prayerful small community setting. A small Church community of maybe eight to ten people might gather in someone’s home or at a parish based location. In this small Church community the focus of the conversation is on matters of faith.  Small  Church communities will offer hundreds of our parishioners an opportunity to get to know God and one another in a more personal way. The benefit of Why Catholic? is that it allows the truths of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to touch the realities of everyday life. Any individual or any group who chooses to participate in this will benefit significantly from learning how to live within the context of a greater and more Catholic relationship.
